The importance of understanding the legal aspects of police patrol/detection law can not be disregarded.

MAKOR K9 also offers as part of its unique and distinguished training program, a full-time, in-house Attorney and Counselor at Law with over twenty years law enforcement experience, and former prosecutorial trial experience with practice now limited to police dogs with special emphasis in:

  1. K-9 liability and
  2. 4th Amendment and narcotic detection dogs.

MAKOR K9’s Owner and President, Mark Rispoli, has been a member of the California Bar since 1980 and now focuses solely on the 4th Amendment and how it impacts canine detection searches and police patrol dog civil liability.

As a licensed Attorney at Law, and former prosecutor, with current emphasis in the area of the legal aspects of canine patrol and detection law, Mark is able to provide the most substantive and relevant case law and canine policy and procedure, that ultimately impacts on how and when a police canine should be deployed in order maximize successful use and minimize civil and vicarious liability. Mark has participated as a consultant numerous times to various law enforcement agencies, related to narcotic detection canine case law.

Mark instructs on canine detection law on local, state, national and international levels, and is legal counsel for the California Narcotic Canine Association and for Scientific Working Group on Dog and Orthogonal detector Guidelines.
